چکیده

This paper examines the role of veteran status as a screen during the Vietnam era. While overall earnings differentials between Vietnam-era veterans and nonveterans are small, they vary systematically with schooling, age, and race. Little evidence is found supporting the hypothesis that veteran status is generally a positive screen. During the Vietnam era, the military apparently drew relatively less able persons from aii except the lowest schooling groups.
